Type of Auto Locksmith Services
If you are having trouble with the locks turning smoothly and properly we can help. There are a number of reasons why the exterior locks on the vehicle can start to become hard to turn in the direction of lock or unlock. This can happen for a number of reasons. The most common reason for this occurrence is a gummed up lock. Locks love to attract dirt and debris inside with all of the small nooks and crannies to hide and store in.
When the key goes into the lock all of the notches on the key align the wafers inside the lock. This makes the sheer line. The sheer line is where the lock cylinder lines up inside and allows the lock to turn freely one way or the other. Sometimes the lock cylinder can be freed up with a little bit of lubricant. If it is really bad it may have to be removed from the vehicle. Then it can be opened up and cleaned.
If the lock is not gummed up but the key looks really old and warn it may be not lining up the wafers anymore. When this is the case a new key may have to be stamped out brand new to factory specs. Say you have a key copied and then the copy copied the key will start to loose its factory depths. Only copy the original key one time and keep it separate.
